Michael Cioffi, is a 3rd generation fishmonger. Michael learned his craft at a very early age when his Father and Grandfather took him to work at The Fulton Fish Market. At the market is where Michael found his life’s passion! Michael was introduced to the owners of the famed Pisacane Fish Market on First Avenue and Fifty Second Street in 1999! The “best fish” It was explained to Michael, is handpicked every night and hand cut to order every morning upon delivery! Michael manned Pisacane’s counter for seventeen years and developed a very loyal following based on trust and kindness with his customers. Michael starred in several episodes on famed Chef Emeril Lagasse various cooking shows. Michael was featured in the cookbook “ Fish without a Doubt” in 2015, Pisacane Seafood closed its doors after more than fifty years in business. Michael turned sadness into utter happiness when he informed his loyal customers who over the years became part of his extended family that he would stay with his love for seafood, stay in the neighborhood and open his very own place. In the Spring of 2016, Michael opened Midtown Catch. The very freshest seafood with a modern twist to reflect how the times have changed. Michael still goes to the market at Midnight to pick up only the very freshest fish for his customers, to be hand cut in the morning. Some things will never change. Now, Midtown Catch offers other items such as freshly prepared soups, salads, vegetables prepared in house daily and can accommodate guests nutritional needs.
